Ever read a story for a fandom that isn't just bad (or just not good) but there's actually just something disturbing about the way in which it was written, yet you know you can't say anything without creating a shit storm of wank???
This is why I should only read the grown up fandoms, aka fandoms where most of the writers/readers are...not fourteen.
okay I hope she was fourteen.
Anyway.....

Say, first of all, I have an issue with ass virgin stories. (Now, considering I mostly write first times, this sounds odd but I shall explain). Not normal bi-curious/hetero male slash world nerves about being penetrated. Those are normal feelings of anxiety. And I'm not talking about guys that usually top but will try being bottom for their man. I'm talking the "saving my ass for the man I love" weirdness. Sort of a butt hymen thing, and to lose it means you are a whore. (Heh butt-hymen). I'm really not down with that mentality about anybody or any particular orifice.
Second, let's talk about writing a character who's repressed and maybe a jerk sometimes, but not a total asshole. Even ignoring their out of character behavior in said bad story (oy, the character assasinations), even they were an original character and treated your friend, or let's say, you, like that, you'd think, total prick, not worth my time.
Third, the disturbing issue in this story in which guy depressed over losing the jerk guy, gets drunk (cuz you'd have to be drunk to want it) has whorish buttsex with this guy even though he's apparently waited his whole life for buttsex with the jerk guy, and then has awful Looking for Mr. Goodbar gets beat up experience with the one night stand the next morning---only to at least be grateful that jerk came in to save him---and then immediately ditched him again.
It was like a Harlequin from the 70's. Want the link?

You know though, even in a 70's Harlequin the guys would have at least *a moment* of tenderness.
I ought to do one of those Harlequin AU challenges someday. It might be fun. Am also considering Yuletide this year. But hmmmm
