and do a cut to spare innocent eyes.

Anyone have thoughts on the spelling of pre-come or just come in general? Preferences for the c-u-m version or not?

Writing in modern voices in so disconcerting now

Oh dear. You've hit that thing that makes me get all twitchy. One might say I have "come issues."

For me, personally, I think "come" is preferable to "cum" unless you're writing hardcore sleazy modern stroke stories of the nifty.org variety. If you're aspiring to anything beyond "Penthouse Forum," I'd avoid "cum."

That said, I am vaguely allergic to "come" as a noun. As a verb, I'm right there with it. As a substance, for some reason, it unnerves me. I guess I'm ok with it in contemporary tales, but in anything period it makes me twitch.

"Pre-come" or "Pre-cum," however, I cannot abide. Some people freak out when they find the word "prostate" in their porn. I freak out about Pre-cu/ome. To me, it sounds both clinical and unsexy.

Your mileage may vary, of course. And I'll still read anything you write even if there's cum and pre-cum in it. :)

Huh. Is semen too clinical? How about pre-ejaculate?

Because I'm honestly really not used to modern voice. And I might go crazy with the opportunity to call things by their proper names.

That being said. I hate it when people write penis in the middle of a sex scene.

Gah. I hate that word.
