You know, IOS is nearing the end, and usually, when I'm nearing the end of a big project, I have something else in mind to start when it's over. And I don't have anything now, which is scaring me a little bit. And though I know that all my stories were and will be variations on the same themes and characters, but every idea I get just seems to be ripped off some show, book, movie I love. Sigh. The winding down of an obsession. Tres sad. Or whatever.
I would welcome the distraction right now, to be honest. A new obsession. I know it will spring up on it's own. Start with something simple and watch it grow into something epic and twisted and painful. I'd like to attempt something with multiple chracters. Maybe something with an actual plot, a serious weakness of mine, but can you imagine how long that would take me to finish? Oy vey. And I know that hottness cannot be forced. No cookie cutter romantic leads... IOS grew out of a one-off porn challenge after all. But distraction would be sooo nice. A little mental crazy that has nothing to do with the rest of the crap in my life. That frantic struggle to contain the absolutely terrifying mess of ideas in my head. I would like that right now.
Not the Rene and James in a deathly serious struggle for salvation isn't sooooo much fun to write. Really. Not a slit my wrists please kind of scene at all.

Sobs into my sleeve. Seriously. You're not ready for this story to finish. I'm not ready.
The men in tights thing didn't work out? I like medieval as a time zone. It would certainly be bleak enough. Certainly enough heresies floating around to satisfy any religious quirks you wanted to explore. I always thought something with Thomas More's offspring would be interesting. The whole period in England during Henry VIII's romp with Anne Boleyn would be utterly fascinating. Also amazing would be something set in Elizabeth's first reign. Some young scribe in the household of Robert Devereaux and someone in the household of say Cecil, arch enemies. Instead of battling out religious mores, you could make this a political minefield. Not to mention the sexual minefield. :Snerk: With the war with France in the background, the Netherlands screaming for men and money, Elizabeth doing what she did best. Nothing.
What ever you do, I will glomp on to it and savor.

There ought to be two excruciating chapters left. With a pause in between to go back, edit/revise shit, because if I wait until I finish, I won't ever edit. Because once it's out of my head completely. I am done with it. Dead and gone, lady.

It was SUCH a blood thirsty age.
I KNEW that the last chapter was the calm before the storm.
I so want to read the next two chapters. Do you know what has been so lovely throughout this saga? Two things: (1) watching James grow up; and (2) watching Rene come back from his personal hell. I get the sense that Rene will always have a foot in hell, but still. One shudders to think of the story of Rene Villon if god hadn't in all his wisdom put James on that ship. I think Rene's ending would be very ugly and sad.

Well Regency is still an option. Anything after that would have to be set in America or something, cuz Victorian corruption and secret sleaze ain't my thang. I cann't find the Robin Hood stories...I think they were lost in computer transfer...and the tone of those seemed really sad to be honest.

Such an interesting age. The excess of the Prince of Wales conflicting with the older mores of his father. All those princes. A military scandal almost might be de rigeur. Dear god, if you set it in the regency military we'd have removing of uniforms! The undoing of LOTS OF BRASS BUTTONS! Epaulets! Formations. Red coats. Whimper, whimper.
Um, gets my vote.
