I have been distracted, I know. What with crack_van and the editing I'm *supposed* to be doing. And also new story that I still haven't really started despite obsessively thinking about it. And I need to write or I'm gonna go mental. Not. Joking.

Then in between all of that, I got sucked into John Adams and Life. Of the two, Life is far more entertaining. Maybe I just find prison fascinating. (Also, for some reason, and I'm probably terribly wrong, I imagine [livejournal.com profile] pir8fancier enjoying that show. Do not ask me why.) John Adams...well I thought it was going to be more about the Revolutionary War, and it wasn't. I mean, really, blah. Only the first two eps were interesting. John Hancock...doing things! Not just signing papers! (Also being cute). Thomas Jefferson as emo, passive-aggressive, sekrit genius! (Also being cute). The rest...John Adams as ambassador...blah. (Though, small Tom Hollander appearance as George III was kind of funny).

Life worth a look. It's really all about Charlie, I'm less interested in the conspiracy and all that. I like seeing his fucked up psychology play out.

And btw, The Mentalist...*again* with the ridiculously old-fashioned dialogue??? Really? If I didn't stumble upon the last half hour of this show upon getting home from work and find it sort of amusing when it tries to be serious, I wouldn't be watching. Why is anyone else?

Fictional prison is always fascinating. (Any kind of extremely closed society, really.)
Anyhoo, what do you think about Life? What kind of ficcy things have come to your mind?

The Mentalist: Patrick Jane is interesting. Like, Crews, you sort of wait for the epic breakdown/smackdown with baited breath. Wonderful acting from both actors, btw.
Oh, and I *love* Cho.
(Don't care for Van Pelt but am slowly warming up to Lisbon.)

(Simon Baker is hot. The Cho guy was hot when he went undercover as some sort of ladies man. But still...the dialogue...and Robin Tunney, I do not find her interesting).

Ficcy things? For Life? You know, when a show brings up most of the stuff I'm interested in on its own, I usually don't feel the need to write anything. It's probably why House fic was so hard for me. I mean, House brings up the gay all on its own.

I haven't seen S. 2 of Life though. I assume Crews must be close to a breakdown. I mean, I know he finds Rachel, I've seen glimpses of S.3 (what I think is S.3 anyway) but he hasn't had a single moment without focus.

If anything, his first breakdown in prison would be interesting, not that I think I could write it at all. Not without serious psychological scars.

What kind of fic do people write for it?

Simon Baker. Yum. (You've seen Something New?)

Cho was stealth!hot when undercover but it's the attitude that cracks me up. I mostly agree about Tunney. Still, I like the non-romance and the way she's closed off and leader-y without the usual blah blah. Even if Tunney can't act.:D

Ficcy things= the meta stuff/plot bunnies/whatever that come to mind when watching new shows. The little thing that separates us from normal people.:D

I'm really into the relationship between Ted and Crews. I love Dani but all that wordless acceptance between those guys makes my head spin. (And then I feel guilty because I'm not supporting the fantastic female lead properly.:)
Also, no breakdown yet. Hope that's not too big a spoiler for you.

The Life fic is scarce on the ground. Mostly decent, mostly Dani/Crews and a few nice Ted ones. I even saved a few.:D

With House I was always about Chase. Even with fic. It's not even about the pretty anymore but the way everybody else stay stubbornly in their 'boxes'.
I miss the unpredictable Chase. :/

I hate when shows get lazy or scared and don't want to give us real impact.

Though Nick was crying on CSI last night more than he cried when buried alive. I mean, I get the ep was really all about the whole past year, but still... Then I expected man hugs for the man tears and was cheated.

!!!

Though Greg did know Nick's birthday. As did Grissom...

In Life fic thoughts...mostly I want to see inside of prison Charlie. While I understand the way it can be more powerful to leave that our imaginations, and useful for them to have plot ideas later (much like his undisclosed lawsuit money amount), I'd still like to see it, even if only through the moments on the outside when the new Charlie Crews regrets letting prison!Charlie emerge.

Though sometimes he doesn't seem to mind.

If you mean Life I have this feeling that they're working towards something.
Maybe?

And they've shown teeny tiny pieces of Prison!Charlie (s2). I want more but what there is works too. We don't really know how far Charlie would go or has gone. He's unpredictable and a lot crazycakes.
Very Mentalist.:)

And yes, bad ass!Prison!Charlie, please.

ps. Fuck, no man!hugs???
That's just wrong.

CSI being a classic. Just...bury someone alive...they'll be fine. A little shake, then fine.
