i hate my boss i hate my boss i hate my boss and i say without exagerrating, that while i don't wish her dead, if she died at this very moment, i would do a dance of joy and go to her funeral just to laugh. she's a stupid selfish fucking bitch and i really really hope she's having the worst day ever. peace and love in the new year and all that crap be damned!
keep in mind northern cali, where we are, is all flooded right now. and if not flood-ed, flood-ing. with high winds and more rain expected, not to mention another rainstorm tomorrow. it will also be dark in a few hours. and with my crappy salary, i have perhaps one of the worst-maintained cars ever. but i am expected to drive in to work and then drive home at 11:30 at night in this weather with holiday drunkasses, because she won't a) suck it up and work her lazy ass without me even though i had to last year on new year's eve day--busiest rental day of the year-- while she went to look for her 'missing boyfriend' (who was drunk somewhere, turns out), b) actually be a manager and call the DM, who is nice, and say, my store has to close early, my employees can't be expected to drive home late in this weather. (which is what i would have done from the start, and, from what i hear, other managers at other stores have already talked about), c)try to find someone to cover a few hours of my shift and then close early anyway or just stay at do it herself, as she is a well-paid fucking manager. though this might cut down on her drinking this evening, i gather.

the minute it's starts to rain again, i'm going home. i'm closing and we're all going home. some of the employees, not just me, have to drive over 20 minutes to get home. in my case about 30 min and in one guy's case, 40 or more since he moved to change schools. most of the freeways now are closed or partialy closed, any road near a creek or river is offlimits, and 680 around martinez/pleasant hill/concord is notorious for being impossible to drive in the rain. but hey, she lives five minutes away and gets off work at 9 though she will no doubt leave early.
this is not the army. this is not a life or death business like a hospital. it's a goddamn video store and she has no right to ask that of people and neither does corporate.
