am I an idiot (dumb question) or what? But how did Jack know Norrington's name when they met on the dock? Up until that point, he had only been referred to as 'Commodore' by the other characters. And that was a recent title... So either the two Marines must have mentioned it somewhere between "it's such a pretty boat-er-ship...and...and then they made me their chief" or...OR...Jack had seen/encountered Norrington before and just added Commodore to his name because the others did. (Or of course, he knew the Man to Fear in Port Royal was named Norrington and when he met the Commodore, naturally assumed. Though Jack doesn't seem like the type to assume, but tis a possibility).
So am I having dorky fan freakout imagining them having somehow met before? Or the image of Jack watching him before? Yes. But I'm sure all the sparrington and pirategasm members have noticed this before. Still...interesting.

I am not of the impression that Jack and Norrington met before. Considering the way Jack was dressed it was no stretch of the imagination to think he might be a pirate. However, I don't think the "small" worlds things is operating here. Clearly, Norrington was in charge, I think that as a matter of reconnaissance that Jack would know who was in charge of the fort and he'd know his name. Also, at least in fandom, Norrington has the rep of being an invetrate pirate hunter, and his name would be bandied about in pubs from Port Royal to Charleston.
