The Movie Meme

1) Total number of films I own on DVD/video: Personally? Counting all the tv episodes taped onto old VHS? The sets of movies counted together or seperately? The anime series? Um...less than 2000, more than a hundred and fifty.

2) The last film I bought: The Apple. 70's disco musicals about the Bible set in the record industry and filmed in Germany under the title "Rock Star USA"...what's not to love? But I also bought a DVD copy of Peyton Place at the same time. *scandal!*

3) The last film I watched:
In the cinema: Sin City *purrrrrrr*
On TV: Cabaret (two ladies...unt I'm the only man, yah)
DVD: The French Lieutenant's Woman (boring as all hell)

4) Five films that I watch a lot or that mean a lot to me:

1. Lawrence of Arabia. But I don't watch it a lot. I find it weirdly painful to watch in that way that I now cannot stand to watch FMA. It hurts once you know the ending. Still so beautiful though.

2. Casablanca. No joke, I watch this constantly. I heart Louis. Is it weird to compare this to anime too, and call him my Nicholas D Wolfwood?

3. Steel Magnolias. The only chick movie I openly love and adore. I quote with friends and my brother like a freak. We even made him say "Her mother and I do!" in a shout when he had to give my sister away at her wedding.

4. The Women. Whenever it's on, I must watch. I heart bitchiness when it's clever. And the 1930's-era dialogue that doesn't come across as offensive now. Nope. Not at all. Now go stretch out in bed like a Swastika.

5. Pirates of the Caribbean. Well it's just my current obsession.

Finally, tag five people to do this meme:
I'm not going to tag anybody, but anyone who wants to respond, can. I would be interested. :)

I adore Cabaret and Casablanca! They're two of my all-time favourite movies. I think Casablanca has one of the tightest, best scripts I've ever seen. And Cabaret has had quite a big influence on my taste in music, amongst other things *g*

Everytime I watch Casablanca I discover some nuance I've never noticed before. (Have I ever rambled on to you my theory that Geoffrey Rush is Claude Rains reincarnated?) The whole film exists in this romantic, fuzzy lens world, which is exactly like ours, and yet the black and white gleam of it does not allow it to age. It's just... Ah I can't explain it. It's obviously dated, yet exists outside of time. And and....*geeks out*

Me too! It's just brilliant.

No...but now that you say it, I can totally see it *g*
