From Pir8fancier's LJ, which is nice advice for anyone who is feeling lazy or untalented or just confused in their fanfic or original writings. Or if you're, say, annoyed that a character has since stopped acting like a Raskolnikov from Hell and has instead turned into a Knight Templar. How in the hell did that happen? I have no idea. Whatever. He can stay a Templar for now, I am hungry.

Groves is the hot one (who admires Jack's fancy footwork in stealing the Interceptor) and Gillette is the pointy-nosed one who looks like he has a stick up his ass. Fandom has more or less confirmed that Groves's first name is Theodore and Gillette's first name is Andrew.
Have you read Wren's AU with Jack and James, "Turning Tides"? She hasn't finished it, unfortunately, she's in graduate school, with no time for fandom, but it's a lovely read. Also, she started a Once Upon a Time in Mexico crossover with the Jack Dav vampire thing show, the names escapes me. My god, that is funny. Her Sands had me rolling in the aisles. Unfortunately, that's not finished either, but it's a scream. Tears streaming down my face, the repartee between the two of them is hysterical. She's one talented writer.

ending made me soooo sad
Does this mean we have a somewhat happy ending for Rene and James? At least in Rene's fucked up concept of what happiness might mean.
::Scratches head::
Rene happy? Disconnect.
Okay. James is happy enough for the both of them.
::Puts hands together in prayer::
Somehow fitting, don't ya think?

as for james and ne ne...according to pooky, james has just turned into horatio hornblower. apparently in a good way, as it made her squeal. i'm not sure what that means, myself

I also think that in terms of your story, an unhappy ending would somehow be a travesty. A mockery of everything that James stands for, really. It's interesting that it's Rene who is almost Calvinistic in this tale with his relentless harsh take on life, and James almost positively Catholic with his belief in prayer and salvation!
I've started re-reading IofS from the beginning and not like I haven't read it a million time already, but even now I'm finding tidbits, relishing description, discoering hints and foreshawoing, ah-ha! moments. So fucking good. Tips my hat to you.
And if pooky is squealing, it's good enough for me.
Although I thought they were going Russian on you?
