Feel free to add any recs to this you want. About anything. I mean, I read most fandoms, and the ones I don't are generally easy to figure out (though obviously I'll miss the in-jokes and references, and anything sci-fi might get complicated). This is in no way all recent fic, or stories for everyone, or even the best-written/made stuff out there. This particular list is just Feel Good Recs, baby.

Nick and Greg and little red ribbon. Smut! The Ribbon

Greg Sanders, Private Dick. Super historically accurate? Not exactly. Do I care? Nope. This series is completely fun and totally hot and just cheers me up sometimes. Why yes, I have read it repeatedly.

LEX LUTHOR IN A PLAID SCHOOLGIRL SKIRT! *ahem* Friends Don't Let Friends Wear Plaid Schoolgirl Skirts

Because Saul Panzer in the Nero Wolfe books is just all kinds of awesome: The Christmas Punch

(And Yuletide, btw. YULETIDE!!!!!! Yuletide *is* Fandom Awesome. I ought to do that again this year).

Pir8fancier's Hate Me/Bite Me Memes story. Harry/Draco. (No, I don't read or especially like Harry Potter. But first of all, grown up, bratty, spoiled Draco is love. And secondly, she took a really stupid and negative internet meme and turned it into porn. I mean love. Yes. That too. Draco was pissed off

A short original, fairy tale-ish fic. The Virgin and the Unicorn

omg, *any* Die Hard 4 Slash if you want hot, kinky porn.

Because I Have Spent My Day Watching Psych CAPSLOCK OF LOVE.

The Epic Tale of Rodney & John: Two Girl Scout Cookies In Love Delicious (pun intended) SGA crackfic.

Slash for the movie "Cursed"...which needed it. But there's no fandom, and no expectation of praise, and the author wrote this bit of perfect anyway.

Yuletide again! The Strange and Not Entirely Ineffective Courting of Jon Stewart by Stephen T. Colbert

Yuletide! "Smoke Signals" slash!!! EEEE!!!!! Thank you, fandom! Telling Tales

A small bit of DS porn from Spuffy. So thanks, Spuffy! What They Needed Ray really is so cute.

More Nick/Greg. The kind of established couple fic that doesn't usually get written. Ruminations on Broken Glass and Bare Feet

Tetchy The OG Simon/Jayne fic!

Also: Dear Fandom, you are awesome for introducing me to boysinskirts. Lipstick Vogue for DS.

And genderfuck! Thanks for that too, Fandom! Gonna Go to Babylon and Get Me Some Whiskey more Due South awesomeness. Maybe I ought to just thank Due South. :)

And thanks for authors like Thamiris too. And all her fic. I'll just link to one. Tied to the Wrist ah Smallville.

(Smallville and SGA, two of the few large fandoms I will read on a semi-regular basis, even if I stopped watching the shows themselves long ago)

Holmes/Watson slash, for existing at all. Sacrilege

Perfect fucking fanvids like this one---> Closer Kirk/Spock set to Nine Inch Nails.

I'm missing a lot. And yet babbling on at the same time. Because Fandom has given me so much. I mean, would I ever have discovered all my kinks without it? Would I have learned to tolerate and/or accept other people's kinks without it? And, though I may still harbor a lot of il will toward a lot of het shippers for their general attitude regarding slash and slashers, I have also seen slashers do some completely awesome things, just proving how stupid all those narrow-minded het shipper types are.

And icons! I forgot all about icons! How many precious icons have I gotten over the years???

*ack* Running out of time here...

Hello flailing fangirl;) I may check out some of those linkies later.
I am currently completely obsessed with RPS from the Supernatural kind. I don't watch the series, but the two actors are just so lovely together I couldn't resist that part of the fandom. There are many good authors and I discovered a new favorite subgenre: Highschool/College AU. (FYI: The guys are very much adults in real life;)
I don't think I've heard you about this pairing before, so here is a picture to introduce you to Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, together they are known as J2 (http://blj-bieb.blogspot.com/2010/12/fandom-picturepost.html#J2) (no manip! Truefact love, ffs they even live together;)
My absolute favorite fics can be found in this J2 recpost (http://blj-bieb.blogspot.com/2008/03/recommendations-cw-rps-j2.html) (not only student stories;)

Prep School/High School AUs are like Teh Best Thing Ever!

No joke.

Aw, you did it, you made Fandom Awesome! V. cool. And I had somehow managed, despite seeing it around before, never to read Gonna Go to Babylon, which, DAMN, so thank you!

Just passing, but I thought I'd throw in some recs! =D

I don't know either fandoms, so these fics were like original fics to me. They stand well on their own, no need to know much info from the actual story. Also, the stories are on the longer-side.

Do you know Sharpe? Well, I didn't until recently! But someone recced Written in Dust, Carved in Bone by Kitty Fisher, and I read it. It's awesome. 19th century Great Britain/Spain. http://www.devinemadness.com/kittyfisher/bone1.htm

I've never watched an episode of Battlestar Galactica (old or new), but I've read some awesome stories by Anna. (If you don't know the series, here's the background info I got: these people's system of planets was attacked and destroyed by a robot-like species, the Cylons, and they're travelling through space, looking for Earth where they would resettle). Sci-fi.

Pairing: Apollo/Starbuck
Mapping the Genome by Anna: http://sithkitten.slashcity.net/byc/drama/ann4.html
Summary: Secrets and lies and chromosomes, and a lot of fun making up Aegyptan names.

Heart of Glass by Anna: http://sithkitten.slashcity.net/byc/angst/ann4.html
Summary: A route-map, a love affair gone wrong, an enemy base, a sort of mutiny and unpleasant medical moments. Packed with incident and adventure (I wish!) and romance. Er – that’s it.

The Professionals:
Pairing: Bodie/Doyle
Legacy of Temptation by Ellis Ward: http://www.thecircuitarchive.com/tca/archive/17/legacyof.html

Here's a summary I snagged from someone else: An intriguing AU horror story with Bodie as a computer professional and Doyle as an author of some somewhat familiar titles. *g* A good plot, clever use of suspense and a highly enjoyable developing relationship makes this an absorbing read.. 1980s.

You know it's a good fic if you can read, and enjoy, it without knowing the fandom.

I'm excited! Thank you for spreading the love.

Agreed. I've always wondered why these authors don't just write them as original fiction. They would find a much broader audience. They must be really dedicated to the fandom because these fics are long, and it's evident they've put a lot of time and effort into it.

PS: Your icon! o_o

From: [identity profile] rispacooper.livejournal.com

I tend to think of fanfic as practice for a lot of authors, a way for them to gain some confidence and experiment in a fairly consequence free environment. Some just never feel comfortable enough to move on to original.

As for the icon...well Fraser and Ray just couldn't contain themselves. I'm just cheering them on. Heh. (Actually, my friend Kittie made it after a squabble with a het shipper on some other show).

Awesome reccies!

My turn:
The best ever Superhero!Lex (slash, obviously):
http://members.ozemail.com.au/~brussell/ihero.htm

Mutant!Chase, House/X-men xover (gen but cool):
http://www.squidge.org/housefanfiction/archive/11/mindover.html

SGA/Donald Strachey mysteries xover. All you need to know is that Donald is ex-military PI who with his *darling* husband and has problems with people ordering him to do things. Especially when they're obvious closet cases from Air Force. (Um, this is really, really gay story but technically gen.:):
http://community.livejournal.com/nick_n_nora/34391.html

Everybody should see that Kirk/Spock vid.
...I really hope I sent feedback to the vidder in question.:)

From: [identity profile] dlasta.livejournal.com

Screw U, it's *awesome*!:) (Lots of Chase & House stuff, tho.:)
...Yes, I would kill for a sequel. With slash.

Also, forgot the word 'lives' from the Donald Strachey/SGA rec. Don *lives* with his husband. Jesus. One bandaged finger and I'm completely useless.:D

I am also having typing issues today.

And trying to be all on the internet and cook at the same time. This is a bad idea.
