As in, a friend and I got into a discussion about movies the other night. And she was a film major and loves pretty hundreds of thousands of movies, though she is a snob as well. but she will buy and watch and love anything that involves some sort of treasure hunt. ??? Yeah, think like "Goonies" and "the Ninth Gate", 'Indiana Jones" follow the clues etc... any great quest. Which I think is a story fetish she got from watching "Goonies" at an early age. (btw, this fetish carries over into her weird love of gold coins and the History Channel)
Which then made me realize, that I have film fetish as well. I will watch, and usually love, anything in which someone 'bad' (however you define it) gets redeemed or faces their past or whatever. I eat that shit up. Weird. Of course, I have always loved the Disney villains, but where this comes from I don't know. But "B. Monkey", "Magnolia"...love 'em all.
Hmmm... Fairy tales? Maybe that's where it came from. Interesting. I did love "Fairie Tale Theater". Oooh and Pooky and I did have this huge crush on Hades from the Persephone myth when we were in elementary school.
