"it's the world outside our problems which is now our problem!"

or soon will be, likely. Interesting article in the S.F. Chronicle today about Darfur and the Sudan and since I'm still traumatized by the speech former U.N. General Romeo Dellario gave about Rwanda (before he killed himself) I of course had to read it.

And let me just say, I am a typical self-absorbed dumbass American. I know nothing of world politics. In fact I normally don't get a paper, but it's Easter, and I have the morning off at least, so hey, I splurged. And dammitall, now I know things. There is just no stopping the information eating my brain.

So it's Rwanda all over again. Or maybe getting worse. Or who knows. People are fantastic aren't they? Fanbloodytastic.

Never again Yeah Right.

and oh yeah. Happy zombie Jesus day Easter to those who care.

I know. I know. Sometimes you pick up the paper and think, my god, didn't I read this story already?

Sigh. Not at all the thing to lift one's mood. And then the Chronicle, in normal SF fashion for wishing they were a aprt of the rest of the country's drama, went on for pages and pages about the '06 quake and what would happen now and are we prepared...

yikes.

Honey, I work at U.C. for earthquake engineers. Believe me, it's not going to be pretty. Plus the building I work in, well, I might make it out alive. It's up for debate. As long as the hills in El Cerrito keep moving, we should be okay. They've got boreholes in the golf course up there and are monitoring the hills. As long as they continue to move...When they lock up, we're doomed.

Well according to the paper, I'll likely die anyway from lack of water since SF and Oakland will be getting all of that. So I'm not expecting my chances to be good. I figure it's karma for me making fun of people who live in Tornado Alley.

I am being cranky because I am sick and I still haven't gotten any sleep. :)

You can come stay at my house. We'll probably have water back in a couple of weeks. The most dire estimates have the other side of the tunnel out of water for six months.

This isn't a cranky free zone. I'm pretty cranky myself these days.

I can just see myself leading a misfit group of survivors across the hills...like in Shaun of the Dead, yet not.

And...and Pooky dated it for me. 4 years. 4 YEARS!! of IOS.

*goes mental*

I hope you're not beating yourself up over this. It's a wonderful story, and if it takes more than four years, it just takes that long.

First I can't believe it's been in my head that long. And then of course all the bad thoughts come out. What a waste of time. And I didn't even do this or that and my characters are fleshed out but my action sucks. And...

I blame my cold.

It doesn't take much to bring those mean reds about writing to the fore, does it? ::Sends healing thoughts::
