Regarding recs, it really does seem like that, doesn't it? I think they've been somewhat taken over by recs journals, but aside from crack_van, recs journals can be tough to find and navigate, and often fall by the wayside too. Polyamorous Recs is still updated every couple of months with a ton of stuff.
