Vincent D'Onofrio's character on L&O:CI is so completely Catholic. How could people not get it? I can spot other Catholics, dammit. (Revenge...taste of ashes in your mouth)

Speaking of which, I see the trend is DVD-esque commentary on fic. Should I attempt this? I take so long to write most things are from years and years ago anyway. And what in the hell would I say? Uh...here's where I thought it would be hot if Rene put his tongue *here*, and at this part, James really, really wanted it up the ass. (ok that's actually the whole book, heh) but if anyone's interested, I could try. Either a standalone or a chapter of something. Though I see there's also a meme where someone can do commentary on your fic for you. How weird would that be?

New Pride and Prejudice...um...what was up with the ending ripped off from Sixteen Candles anyway? All they needed was a birthday cake between them. But, new Darcy was HOTT. Hottest Darcy to date. And the first time I've watched Jane Austen and nearly screamed out, "Just FUCK already!" Novella of Brokeback Mountain more disappointing. Weird telling writing style and very much reality versus the romantic that the movie will be (Ang Lee) though, are some scenes that are striking and haunting.

Also...I really really want to start an internet fight with someone. Just a little tiff. Not for anything major, but the woman is being an idiot, and she's being an idiot in a fandom that already has annoyed me for its far too serious nature (and muffin character worship and blindness to any other viewpoint or possibility). Grrrrr. It's taking a lot to be polite and just ignore her now. (Compare her beloved to a character from a different TV show, just for the symbolic nature of his presence, and she takes it literally and starts saying how different they are because the same shit hasn't happened to them. Of course it hasn't! WTF? Try *imagining* something you idiot waste of breath! *huff*).

Now I'm all het up. Need distraction.

Yeah, the story Brokeback Mountain could have been better, and yeah, Matthew Macfadyen does make a very *HOTT* Darcy!! I just got the dvd of "The Way We Live Now", with him and Cillian Murphy in it. I started watching it months ago on tv, and never got to finish it. Did u and alli enjoy it? I found soo many icons of him, *pretty ones*. and I found one from the x files that made me think of you. I sent it to u on myspace.

Are you talking about the Proulx short story or is there a movie novelisation (if so: puke!)? I love the short story myself, it rips my heart out. Although I'm looking forward to the movie like anything I think it's a bit of a pity that the "first gay Hollywood movie" is based on such tragic material--although as you say, it does look like they'll be playing up the romance angle more. But the short story, fuck, it's brutal.

Commentary? Natch, I'd love a commentary.

P&P? Yeah, new Dracy is THE Darcy as far as I am concerned. He doesn't overdo the haughty thing, does the "I want to jump her" thing very well. Thumbs up!

it's just her style of writing bothers the holy hell out of me. it's very much..."ennis was the type of man who..." and i realize it's a short story, but there has to be a better way to show me ennis than that.

their reuniting/kissing/desperation scene though...that was amazing
